I said in my intro post I had come up with a new RPing technique.
Since I've only got the RP method and I missing an idea to try it, I've decided to tell you all about it, and see what you think of it first.
Firstly, A small reason why I came up with it. The reason is, when I come up with an RP, and the idea takes off, at some point someone does something I hadn't thought of. It's a good idea, but in the story I envisioned...it doesn't work. I go along with it anyway, hoping to adapt the story. But as usual it all goes wrong and the RP dies of inactivity.
My idea is Objective based RPing. The writer sets out goals for the other players to accomplish. They can do it in their own way to retain creativity and RP flair. But it allows a story to flow smoothly. I suppose if the writer mucks it up it can also go wrong. But everyone can discuss those parts to avoid this.
An example of how the objective could be laid out would be like so.
1: All player chars must join a faction
2: <Player name 1> must encounter <NPC Joe Bloggs> and get <Plot Item A>
2a: <Player name 1> must witness death of <NPC Joe Bloggs> Whether Player gets attacked or is ignored or escapes is up to player.
3: Optional: <One Char of Faction A> should meet with <NPC of Faction B> to accept or reject spying offer.
4: ***** Yet to be revealed ***** Complete 1 & 2 to reveal
4a: ***** Yet to be revealed **** If Spying offer is accepted. this will be revealed
4b:***** Yet to be revealed **** If Spying offer is rejected, this will be revealed.
And so on and so forth. The objective based system can also help stop chars going too far ahead. If only one or two objectives have been revealed, then they can't really proceed with the RP.
*sigh* I had loads of things I wanted to say about this...but I can't remember any of them anymore....
If you have any ideas or suggestions or opinions feel free to give them. Heck if you think the objective based system is a cool idea, feel free to try it. I'll gladly join the RP. Like I said before, the only reason I haven't made an RP is because I haven't got a good enough idea.
